Addictions or Passions with Rev Dr Demetrios Moraitis, Dean St Spyridon Cathedral Worcester

Reverend Father Dimitrios Moraitis has been serving the Orthodox Church for over 20 years. He was born in Germany and raised in Queens, New York. After working as a General Contractor and Building Engineer, he went back to school to become a social worker. He quickly realized that God was calling him to the Priesthood and he entered Hellenic College in 1992.

Fr. Dimitrios received his Masters of Divinity from Holy Cross in 1998. After serving as a Deacon during his senior year in Boston, he was ordained to the Priesthood and assigned to the St. Demetrios community in Chicago  as the second priest from 1998 to 2000. In 2000 he was assigned as the Senior Pastor of Sts. Constantine and Helen Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina. During his ministry in North Carolina, he also served as an Army Chaplain at Fort Bragg. After serving four years at Sts. Constantine and Helen, he served as the Senior Priest of St. Paraskevi in Greenlawn, NY from 2004 until 2014 when he was assigned to the parish of St.Spyridon in Berlin, MA. In May of 2006, after completing his dissertation, Fr. Dimitrios received his Doctorate of Ministry Degree from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.

Speaker: Fr. Dean Borgman

Fr. Dean Borgman is an Episcopalian priest and faculty member at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, MA. He has a warm relationship with Hellenic College Holy Cross including having taught courses there. He will be discussing the issue of racism and the Christian imperative for racial reconciliation.
