Our church school is a teaching ministry in which our parish enjoys a sense of justifiable pride. Its committed teachers have long provided our children with creative, mature, and resourceful instruction in the treasury of our Christian faith and Orthodox traditions. In fact, many of the new members of our community, and young families especially, tell us that they have chosen St. Vasilios because of the quality of our youth programs in general, and of our church school in particular. While the example of parents and the ethos of an Orthodox home are paramount in the process of religious formation, formal instruction is also necessary. Our church school stands ready to enter into partnership with our parents in this vital process.
Church school participation is open to all children who are at least 4 years old by September 1st of the year in which they begin instruction. Each Sunday during the school year, all families are earnestly encouraged to attend the English liturgy (9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.) TOGETHER. At its conclusion, children go to their respective classes in the Educational Center. Between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
during class instruction, parents are invited to share in the fellowship of a coffee hour, which is held in the Educational Center auditorium. At 11:30 a.m. classes conclude and parents and children leave together.
The church school has its own office directly below the church. Parents who wish to enroll their children, or who have questions, are asked to visit the office on Sunday mornings during the school year for any help they may need. At the same time, we are always vigilant in our search for men and women of faith and conviction who feel called by God to share and serve in this saving ministry. We invite them to join our teaching team so that we can insure the future quality and continuity of our church school.
